Taraba South Senator David Jimkuta revealed at his Senatorial Empowerment Programme in Wukari that 19 senators, selected by the Senate to join him and witness the event, were denied landing permits at Kashimbilla Airport.
“I had completed every procedure required to fly into the airport, only to later learn that it was temporarily shut down,” Jimkuta lamented. He added that the planned visit would have provided the senators with an opportunity to better understand and support the state’s needs.
During the event, which featured the donation of assorted items—including cars, motorcycles, tricycles, sewing machines, deep freezers, and vulcanising machines—Jimkuta advised beneficiaries to hold on to their equipment rather than sell them, emphasizing that these resources were meant to improve their livelihoods.
As the chairman of the Senate Committee on Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Councils, he also promised to bolster security in the district with improved logistical support, ensuring better protection of lives and properties.
Chairman of the event, David Kente, a noted philanthropist and APC chieftain, thanked Senator Jimkuta for the unprecedented empowerment initiative, which he described as a historic milestone for the district.
