The Abia State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has rejected comments from the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, dismissing the suspension of its Board of Trustees (BoT) chairman, Senator Adolphus Wabara.
Abia PDP maintained that Wabara’s suspension followed constitutional provisions and could not be overturned by a press statement. The party warned that any attempt to undermine its decision through “unconstitutional means” would be met with legal action.
State chairman Elder Abraham Amah accused Ologunagba of acting without the National Working Committee’s (NWC) backing. He argued that Wabara’s role as BoT chairman did not shield him from disciplinary measures, citing the PDP’s amended 2017 constitution, which permits sanctions against members engaged in anti-party activities.
“The endorsement of a sitting governor from another party by Senator Wabara clearly violates the party’s constitution,” Amah said.
He insisted that only a competent court or the PDP’s National Executive Committee (NEC) could overturn Wabara’s suspension, which remains in effect.
“We urge the National Publicity Secretary to refrain from misleading the public and undermining the party’s constitution. No individual is above party discipline,” Amah added.
