In a significant turn of events, Senator Abubakar Kyari, hailing as the Deputy National Chairman (North) of the All Progressives Party (APC), has assumed the leadership of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party.

The news comes following the reported resignation of the party’s National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu.

The resignation of Senator Adamu was widely covered in the media over the weekend, and it was asserted that he submitted his resignation letter to Senator Iyola Omisore, who serves as the party’s National Secretary.

On Monday, around 10:40 a.m., Senator Kyari, accompanied by seven other members of the APC NWC, convened a meeting in his office.

Interestingly, it was observed that the official car of the Deputy National Chairman was parked in the slot typically reserved for the party’s National Chairman.

In attendance alongside Senator Kyari were Deputy National Chairman (South) Emma Enukwu, National Vice-Chairman (North West) Salihu Lukman, National Vice-Chairman (North East) Salihu Mustapha, and National Vice-Chairman (North Central) Muazu Bawa.

The gathering also included National Vice-Chairman (South West) Issacs Kekemeke, National Vice-Chairman (South East) Ejoroma Arodiogu, and the party’s Deputy National Secretary, Mr. Festus Fuanter.

The heightened security around the party’s National Secretariat on Blantyre Street in Wuse two Abuja was noticeable, with stringent checks conducted on vehicles entering the street, and passers-by were subjected to questioning.

As of the time of this report, the party’s NWC is currently in session, discussing the implications of these recent developments.
