Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Olufemi Oluyede, has pledged that the Nigerian Army will sustain its offensive against bandits until they are fully eradicated, ensuring peace and security for Nigerians. Speaking to journalists during an operational visit to the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army in Natsinta, Katsina, on Wednesday, Oluyede emphasized the military’s commitment to restoring safety to the state.

Welcomed by Brig Gen Babatunde Omopariola, the 17 Brigade Commander, Oluyede outlined the purpose of his visit as an appraisal of the brigade’s operational activities and an assessment of their challenges. He highlighted the need for swift action to address these issues, enabling the troops to perform their duties more effectively.

The army chief noted the progress already made by the troops and expressed his intent to motivate them to intensify their efforts. He underscored the importance of maintaining momentum in the fight against banditry, stressing that a safer Katsina State remains the ultimate goal.

“Our core responsibility as soldiers is to defend Nigeria,” Oluyede said. “It is crucial to eliminate all bandits in this area so that Nigerians can have a safe and secure place to live.”
