Nigerian music executive Soso Soberekon has revealed that Beyoncé was initially set to feature on KCee’s 2013 hit song Limpopo, but the collaboration fell through due to logistical issues.
In an interview with media personality Daddy Freeze, Soberekon explained that a billionaire, unfamiliar with the entertainment industry, wanted to bring Beyoncé to Nigeria for a concert, meet-and-greet, and song collaboration with KCee.
“We went to New York and even visited Jay-Z’s club, trying to secure Beyoncé’s contact,” he said. “Eventually, an agent engaged us, and we recorded Limpopo with the hope that Beyoncé would be on it.”
However, the deal collapsed when the agent informed them that Beyoncé would not stay in Nigeria but in Ghana, making the planned collaboration unfeasible. Despite the setback, Limpopo became a massive hit, cementing KCee’s status as a top artist.
