The Department of State Services (DSS) has taken control of the Abuja office of the Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP), sparking widespread condemnation.
According to eyewitnesses, DSS operatives arrived at the SERAP office earlier today, demanding to see the organization’s directors.
SERAP has issued a statement calling on President Bola Tinubu to intervene, describing the occupation as an “unwarranted attack” on their rights and those of Nigerians.
The reasons behind the DSS’s actions remain unclear, but the move has raised concerns about the erosion of civil liberties in Nigeria.
