The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the killing of the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Agbarho by suspected kidnappers during a security operation on Monday.

SP Bright Edafe, the Command’s spokesperson, told newsmen that the DPO was fatally shot in Agbarho, dismissing rumors that the incident occurred in Orerokpe. The officer was leading an operation aimed at curbing criminal activity in the area when he was attacked.

Edafe requested that the officer’s name remain private for now. “We ask that his name be kept out of the media for now,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the DPO of Orerokpe, who was also part of the operation, sustained injuries but is in stable condition at an undisclosed hospital.

Local vigilante members have since combed the surrounding bushes, searching for any clues to assist in tracking down the perpetrators.
