Nigeria’s Edo State Government has formally initiated the transition process, inviting governor-elect Senator Monday Okpebholo to establish his transition team.
In a letter dated 10 October, Secretary to the State Government Joseph Eboigbe requested Mr. Okpebholo to form his team to work alongside the outgoing administration’s transition committee.
The move aims to ensure a seamless transfer of power and continuity of governance.
Governor Godwin Obaseki inaugurated the 20-member transition committee in July, chaired by Mr. Eboigbe.
The letter proposes an inaugural meeting between both transition teams on 14 October.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) and Mr. Okpebholo have yet to respond officially.
Analysts view this development as a crucial step towards a peaceful transition of power in Edo State.
