Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has taken a significant step towards enhancing the governance of the state by submitting a list of nominees for commissioners and special advisers to the State House of Assembly.

Among the notable individuals nominated are former Deputy Speakers, Mr. Dapo Karounwi and Mr. Taiwo Olatunbosun, along with Folorunsho Olabode, Mrs. Tosin Aluko, Prof. Bolaji Aluko, Prof. Ojo Bakare, Prof. Patrick Tedela, and the immediate past Head of Service, Mrs. Peju Babafemi.

During a plenary session, the Speaker of the House, Mr. Adeoye Aribasoye, announced the names of the nominees as presented in a letter from Governor Oyebanji.

The Governor invoked Sections 192 and 196 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999, as amended, to seek the parliamentary approval required for expanding the executive council. This expansion aims to strengthen the executive arm’s capacity for efficient service delivery.

Expressing his commitment to fulfilling their legislative duties diligently, Speaker Aribasoye entrusted the list to the House Committee on Rules and Business, which is chaired by Majority Leader Tolu Ige. This committee will conduct the necessary scrutiny and deliberations regarding the nominees before the final confirmation process.
