The Imo State Police Command announced on Tuesday the arrest of 18 suspects linked to the killing of two police officers at Ahiara junction in Ahiazu Mbaise council area. The State Police Public Relations Officer, Henry Okoye, revealed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Aboki Danjuma, has deployed a Special Tactical squad, collaborating with the military, to apprehend the assailants.
The officers were attacked at a filling station by individuals suspected to be members of the Proscribed IPOB/ESN, dressed in military attire. The CP expressed condolences to the families of the deceased officers and pledged a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice. Residents are urged to report anyone with gunshot injuries in the area.
