The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has taken a significant step by filing a six-count charge against Hudu Yunusa-Ari, its suspended Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Adamawa State.

The charges were filed at the high court in Yola, the capital city of the state.

In a statement released on Thursday, INEC revealed that it made this decision after thoroughly reviewing the case file provided by the police.

The case file evidently established a prima facie case against Yunusa-Ari, leading to this action.

Yunusa-Ari had been apprehended by the police in connection with his actions during the Adamawa State governorship election.

While he was granted administrative bail, he was instructed to report to the headquarters of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF) every weekday.

Further updates on this matter will be provided in due course.
