The Director General of the Hisbah Board, Abba Sufi, has confirmed the arrest of Jigawa State’s Commissioner for Special Duties, Auwal Danladi Sankara, for alleged misconduct with a married woman.

Sankara was reportedly found with the woman, identified as Tasleem Baba Nabegu, in an uncompleted building. According to Sufi, the commissioner has been under scrutiny for allegedly running illegal drug centres disguised as hotels, involving both prostitution and drug-related activities.

“We’ve had issues with Sankara due to his involvement in illicit activities,” Sufi stated, adding that the commissioner will face charges in court on Monday.

A Hisbah official, speaking anonymously, revealed that Sankara was caught following a complaint by the woman’s husband, Nasir Bulama, who lives in Kano. The Hisbah team set up surveillance and apprehended the commissioner after he and the woman were seen entering the unfinished building, which reportedly belongs to Sankara.
