Kaduna State’s Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Alhaji Sadiq Mamman Lagos, has cautioned former Governor Nasir El-Rufai against making political declarations about the 2027 elections, asserting that only God can determine the outcome.

In a recent interview, Mamman Lagos criticised El-Rufai’s comments targeting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani, urging the former governor to steer clear of Kaduna politics. “God will decide who wins the governorship and presidential elections in 2027,” he said.

The commissioner praised Governor Uba Sani’s administration for reversing what he described as unpopular policies from El-Rufai’s tenure, including lowering high tuition fees, reinstating deposed traditional rulers, and returning confiscated properties to their owners.

“Governor Sani has surpassed expectations, even among the opposition, by uniting the people and restoring Kaduna’s lost glory. His administration has made strides in rural development, economic recovery, education, and healthcare,” Mamman Lagos added.

Meanwhile, all 255 councilors in Kaduna State have endorsed both President Tinubu and Governor Sani for re-election in 2027. Speaking on their behalf, Muhammad Sani Badiko praised the governor’s achievements, particularly in infrastructure development.

“There is no vacancy in the Presidential Villa, Abuja, or the Sir Kashim Ibrahim Government House, Kaduna, come 2027,” Badiko declared, emphasising grassroots mobilisation efforts to secure Sani’s second term.

The growing support for Governor Sani reflects a broader political realignment in Kaduna, with many local leaders pushing back against El-Rufai’s influence and focusing on what they see as a new era of governance under Sani’s leadership.
