Kano State’s anti-corruption efforts have revealed a massive N18 billion siphoned by politicians in collusion with civil servants, according to the Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, Barrister Muhuyi Rimingado.
Speaking at a capacity-building workshop for civil service directors, organized in partnership with the Kano State Head of Civil Service and the International Idea (ROLAC II Programme), Rimingado highlighted that 90% of corruption cases in the state are linked to procurement processes, with civil servants often serving as tools for these illicit activities.
Rimingado emphasized the need to sensitize civil servants against being manipulated by politicians, warning that the commission will now penalize any civil servant found complicit in corrupt practices.
Governor Abba Yusuf, represented by Deputy Governor Comrade Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, also condemned the previous administration’s looting of the state treasury and urged civil service directors to reject corruption and commit to honest service.
The workshop aimed to educate civil servants on anti-corruption laws, public procurement, and financial management, encouraging them to become role models in the fight against corruption in Kano State.
