The Kwara Police Command has launched an investigation into 26 officers for alleged harassment, intimidation, and extortion.
Okasanmi Ajayi, the Command Spokesman, stated on Monday in Ilorin that the affected officers were assigned to anti-cultist and anti-cybercrime units.
Mr Ajayi went on to say that all of the officers had been redeployed out of the units pending the outcome of the investigation into their levels of culpability.
He distanced the command from all references made by officers in the field to senior officers regarding proceeds of crime, and advised residents not to be afraid of reporting the activities of police officers in their communities to the command with facts and proven evidence.
The Spokesperson promised to treat any information given with the utmost confidentiality, adding that the command was ready to name and shame any black sheep involved in any act capable of bringing the force’s good name into disrepute.
He also urged the public to report any cases of harassment, intimidation, extortion, or brutality to the command at the following phone numbers: 08156196244, 08064242862, and 08032365122.
