The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) is intensifying its efforts to combat unemployment across Nigeria, aligning with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope initiative. Speaking at the 46th Kaduna International Trade Fair, NDE Director General Silas Agara outlined the agency’s plans to engage 93,731 unskilled and unemployed Nigerians through targeted skills acquisition and economic empowerment programs.

Agara emphasized the NDE’s commitment to providing a platform for beneficiaries to showcase their products and services, boosting visibility and fostering entrepreneurship. “We are not only training individuals but also creating avenues for them to thrive in the marketplace,” he said.

As part of its digital transformation push, the NDE is launching a mobile application designed to connect Nigerians with services offered by its trained beneficiaries. The app aims to streamline access to job opportunities and support small businesses.

The Kaduna International Trade Fair, themed “Promoting Efficiency in Manufacturing, Agriculture, and Trade through Digital Transformation,” offered a valuable platform for NDE-backed entrepreneurs to network with international business professionals and explore new markets.

Kaduna Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (KADCCIMA) President, Ishaya Idi, lauded the NDE’s participation, noting that its support for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) has significantly contributed to reducing unemployment and enhancing self-reliance.

“The NDE’s continuous engagement at the trade fair not only boosts economic growth but also empowers countless Nigerians to build sustainable livelihoods,” Idi added.

With its initiatives, the NDE aims to transform job seekers into job creators, aligning with the federal government’s broader vision of sustainable development and prosperity for all.
