Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State, ahead of his inauguration today, pardoned 43 prisoners in a move reflecting his commitment to reformative justice. The gesture followed recommendations from the State Advisory Council on the Prerogative of Mercy, led by Attorney General Dr. Olukayode Ajulo, SAN.
The governor ordered the release of eight inmates, commuted death sentences for 15 to prison terms, and reduced life sentences for 20 others. The move aims to promote rehabilitation and reintegration into society.
