The Ondo State Police Command has launched an investigation into the assassination of businessman Ismaila Awoyinka, who was shot dead by unknown gunmen in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area.
Police spokesperson ASP Funmilayo Odunlami confirmed the incident, stating that efforts are underway to identify those responsible.
Eyewitnesses said Awoyinka, a building materials dealer, was ambushed near his home on Saturday night after performing the Taraweeh prayer. The attackers, dressed in white, arrived on a motorcycle and shot him at close range.
The killing has left residents in shock, with Odigbo LGA Chairman Taiwo Adegoroye describing it as a tragic loss.
