US President Donald Trump has denied reports that billionaire Elon Musk would receive a top-secret briefing on Washington’s military strategy in a potential conflict with China.
Reports from The New York Times claimed that Musk was set to be briefed on US maritime tactics and targeting plans in a China conflict. Similar reports appeared in The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post, raising concerns over Musk’s growing influence in the White House as an unelected advisor.
Trump dismissed the reports as “completely untrue,” stating on Truth Social that “China will not even be mentioned or discussed.” He also called the media “the enemy of the people” and insisted Musk was “NOT BEING BRIEFED ON ANYTHING CHINA.”
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth confirmed Musk’s visit to the Pentagon but said the meeting would focus on innovation and efficiency rather than military strategy. Musk also denied the reports, calling them “pure propaganda” and noting that he had visited the Pentagon several times before.
Democrats have criticized Trump’s close ties with Musk, questioning the billionaire’s lack of security clearance despite overseeing government contracts worth billions.
